The beachside town of Hua Hin in Thailand is often overlooked by tourists in favor of mainstream hotspots like Phuket and Koi Samui. However, it’s a favorite getaway for Bangkok residents, and for good reason, as this idyllic, family-friendly destination boasts powdery white stretches of sand, serene waters, and an all-around tranquil vibe. The Standard, Hua Hin is a stylish base for trend-forward travelers seeking a calming reprieve near the sea. Here’s our full review.

What You Need to Know

The Look of The Standard, Hua Hin

Spanning 121 beachfront acres, The Standard, Hua Hin is a serene seaside retreat. You’ll feel instantly at ease the moment you step through the open-air lobby, which is flanked by lush tropical flora. The retro-chic aesthetic and colorful accents — found throughout ‘the gram-worthy property, including the artwork that adorns the walls and the patterned chairs — practically ooze cool. Cheery yellow is the most prominent hue found here.

Just off the lobby is the Juice Cafe, which offers (you guessed it) juice and also coffee and snacks, all best enjoyed in the surrounding gardens. The all-day Lido restaurant embraces a similar look with bamboo walls, greenery, and plenty of natural light. Out by the expansive lounge chair-lined swimming pool is the Lido Bar, which serves up refreshing cocktails and light Thai-inspired fare. Also, don’t miss the beach bar and restaurant or holistic-inspired spa tucked away amidst the tropical gardens.

Choose from a selection of sun-drenched rooms, suites, and villas, each with private balconies, garden views, rain showers or soaking tubs, and vibrant pops of yellow in the form of cushions and duvets. Light brown leather headboards and wicker accents only add to the old-school aesthetic. For the ultimate luxury experience, book one of the villas that boasts a private pool and ample al fresco space for lounging.

Best Amenity at The Standard, Hua Hin

Beyond the hip bars and restaurants, we’d have to go with the spa, which offers treatments like sound baths and hot stone massages that use crystal-infused essential oils. There’s also a mud lounge, where guests can lather themselves in a DIY mud scrub, and guided yoga. The Hut, which takes kids off their parents’ hands on Saturday afternoons thanks to child-focused activities (for an additional fee), is a close second.
