Hotel EMC2 debuted back in 2017 as a member of Marriott's Autograph Collection. This sleek, centrally located property pays homage to Albert Einstein with its whimsical aesthetic, tech-savvy touches, and a bustling on-site eatery.

What You Need to Know

The Look of Hotel EMC2

Upon walking into the lobby, guests instantly are greeted by a dazzling display of colorful artwork, floating bookshelves, and neat knickknacks, like a zoetrope (a Victorian-era animation toy). Meanwhile, the 195 guest rooms, which are spread throughout floors four through 21, are just as cool. Expect tufted leather headboards, brass accents, glass-enclosed showers, and a test-tube-looking bathroom light. Each room is also equipped with a smart TV and Amazon Alexa.

The Vibe at Hotel EMC2

The acclaimed on-site restaurant, The Albert, attracts well-heeled travelers and locals. The upscale property also draws a trendy crowd comprised mostly of 30- and 40-somethings. It's also worth noting that, when we visited, the clientele consisted of mostly couples -- and a few furry friends (but more on them later).

Who Will Love Hotel EMC2

It's clear that the property was designed with art and architecture enthusiasts in mind. It also makes a great home base for those who want to stay in the heart of Chicago -- without having to stay in a big-name, cookie-cutter hotel. Additionally, business travelers will appreciate its central location.

Who Might Not Love Hotel EMC2

Families, especially those with younger children, may opt to stay elsewhere. Aside from the small rooms -- the largest is just under 400 square feet -- the property doesn't offer any kid-friendly activities or amenities (aside from the option to add a crib).

Best Amenity at Hotel EMC2

The on-site restaurant, aptly named The Albert, serves up elevated American eats plus an array of innovative cocktails. While the food and drink offerings -- along with the hospitable service -- are great, it's the space itself that really stands out. Take some time to admire the specially commissioned murals and suspended lab drawers between sips and bites.

We'd also be remiss not to mention the two robot concierges, Cleo and Leo. The robots zip around the property, delivering everything from (complimentary) water bottles to toothbrushes. Guests can use the in-room Amazon Alexa to request their service.
